Business Growth Assessment Guide
A 30-minute self-audit before you scale anything — even if your "office" is your kitchen table.
Why this matters
Be honest with yourself for a second: does growth feel harder than it should, even though you're working more hours than ever? Most of us never stop to ask why — we just push harder. More effort, same result, and a quiet feeling that something isn't adding up. That feeling usually isn't about how hard you're working. It's usually one specific leak, hiding in one of four places:
- Marketing — are new people even finding you?
- Sales — are enquiries actually turning into paying customers?
- Operations — can your business run without you doing everything yourself?
- Money — do you know what you're really keeping, not just what you're selling?
The four pillars, at a glance
How to use this guide
- 1
Set aside 30 minutes — after everyone's asleep, over chai, whenever you actually get quiet time.
- 2
Read through all four pillars below first. Don't score anything yet.
- 3
Then open the free scorecard and rate yourself 1–5 on each pillar, honestly. No one else sees this but you.
- 4
Whichever pillar comes out lowest — that's this week's focus. Not everywhere at once.
Tap each one to open it — start with the one that sounds most like you.
Pillar 1
Marketing
Pillar 1
Marketing
are people finding you, or are you finding them?
Most of us start here — relatives, the WhatsApp group, word of mouth. That's not wrong; it's how almost every business starts. But it has a ceiling: it only grows as fast as your circle talks about you.
Every customer came because someone told them about you — and if that person stopped talking about you, your enquiries would dry up tomorrow.
Strangers who've never met anyone you know are messaging you cold, every week, because they found you on Google or Instagram.
Try this: Count your last 20 enquiries. Mark each one "warm" (knew you already) or "cold" (found you fresh). If cold is under 3 — that's your leak, and probably the first one worth fixing.
Pillar 2
Sales
Pillar 2
Sales
are enquiries actually turning into paying customers?
Be honest — how many times has someone asked "what's the price?" and then gone quiet, and you just… let it go? You told yourself they weren't serious. Maybe. Or maybe no one ever followed up.
One reply, then silence, then you move on.
You always follow up — a day later, gently, asking what's holding them back.
Try this: Look at your last 10 "interested" chats. How many did you actually follow up on? If it's under half, there are paying customers sitting in your seen messages right now.
Pillar 3
Operations
Pillar 3
Operations
can your business run without you standing over it every single minute?
This is the pillar that decides whether you get a real day off — not one where you're still mentally running the business from your phone.
You're the only one who knows how anything gets done. Every order is a small fire you personally put out. A bad week for your health becomes a bad week for your business.
Someone else could follow your process and get the same result — because it's written down, not just living in your head.
Try this: Write down every step from "customer says yes" to "order delivered," even the ones you do without thinking. If you can't write it without checking your memory five times, that's the leak.
Pillar 4
Money
Pillar 4
Money
do you actually know what you're keeping — not just what you're selling?
This is the pillar that scares most of us the most, because it means looking at a real number instead of a feeling. Busy and profitable are not the same thing — a full order book doesn't always mean money in hand.
Business money and household money live in the same purse. You price the way you always have, and you're not fully sure what you keep after materials, delivery, and your own time.
You know your margin on your best-seller, and you've adjusted your price at least once because of that number — not because a competitor changed theirs.
Try this: Pick your best-seller. Subtract every real cost — materials, delivery, platform fees, your own time at a fair hourly rate. What's left? If you're not sure, that's the most important sentence in this whole guide.
How the scorecard works
- Rate yourself 1–5 on each pillar, honestly.
- No business plan, no ten-page strategy — just one number per pillar.
- In ten minutes, you'll know exactly which one is dragging the other three down.

Next step
Pick your lowest score. That's not bad luck — that's your actual leak. Take one action against it this week, before you touch anything else. You don't have to fix everything today. You just have to stop guessing. #AskNikita
